General Dentistry in Woodinville, WA
Unhurried checkups, and when something turns up, the gum and restorative care to treat it here without a referral.
If it has been a while since your last checkup, or a tooth has started to feel different, you probably want to know where things stand before anything else happens. At Advanced Care Dentistry, our general dentistry consultation in Woodinville, WA starts with a 90-minute first visit, long enough to go over your health history and walk you through everything we find.
Coming Back After a Long Break
It doesn't matter how long it has been since your last visit, and nobody here will lecture you about the gap. Plenty of people put off the dentist for reasons that have nothing to do with how much they care about their teeth. One rough visit years ago, or a gag reflex nobody took seriously, can quietly turn six months into five years.
If nerves are what keep you away, nitrous oxide and IV sedation are available even for exams and cleanings. You can also ask for a weighted blanket or noise-cancelling headphones while you're in the chair.

What Our General Dentistry Services Include
Your routine cleaning and most of the treatment a checkup might uncover happen in this office. That includes:
- Exams and professional cleanings, with routine x-rays and fluoride
- An oral cancer screening at every checkup
- Tooth-colored fillings made from mercury-free resin
- Same-day CEREC crowns, designed and milled in our office
- Root canal treatment
- Wisdom tooth evaluation and removal
- Gum disease care, including laser gum therapy
- Sleep apnea screening, coordinated with your physician
Most general dentists send gum problems to a periodontist and complex rebuilding to a prosthodontist. Dr. Marxen is trained in both specialties and Dr. Redenz adds advanced training in implant surgery, so if your exam turns up gum disease or a tooth that needs more than a filling, the next step usually stays here with people you already know.

What Happens at Your First Visit
Your first visit takes about 90 minutes, and you leave with a written treatment plan before anything gets scheduled. Your dentist reviews your health history and examines your whole mouth, including an oral cancer screening, and routine visits after that pair a cleaning with an exam. See what to expect at your first visit.
Why Keeping Up With Your Checkups Is Important
Most dental problems grow quietly, and the fix gets bigger the longer they're left. A cavity caught early needs a filling. Left alone, decay can reach the nerve and cause an infection that spreads into the surrounding bone.
Gums follow the same pattern. Plaque hardens into tartar that only a professional cleaning can remove, and untreated gum infection can spread to the bone that holds your teeth in place until they loosen. Gum disease is also associated with conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease, which is why Dr. Marxen and Dr. Redenz treat an infection in your mouth as a health concern, not only a dental one.
Meet Your Woodinville Dentists
Two dentists practice here, and each brings training that shapes what a routine visit can catch.
Thomas O. Marxen, DDS, MSD, is trained in both periodontics and prosthodontics, so when he looks at a worn or broken tooth, he also checks whether the gum and bone beneath it can support a lasting repair. Before dentistry, Dr. Marxen worked as a phlebotomist, experience he draws on to make numbing injections as gentle as possible for patients who are uneasy about needles.
Robert G. Redenz, DDS, earned his dental degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and went on to advanced training in general dentistry in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Redenz's training spans cosmetic and restorative work, so when a checkup turns up a worn or failing tooth, he can lay out options that restore its health and suit your smile.
Care for Patients Who Need More Time
Patients with special needs, such as autism or dementia, are welcome here, including those who have been told elsewhere that their care is too complex. We give extra time and a quiet, steady setting, and sedation can help when sitting still through a cleaning is hard. Anyone who has IV sedation heads home with a companion once they feel alert.
Cost, Insurance, and Membership Plans
Your cost depends on what your exam finds, and we go over every cost with you before treatment begins. We file insurance claims for you, and CareCredit financing can spread out larger costs. Without insurance, our adult membership plan is $576 a year, about $48 a month, for two cleanings and two exams plus 15% off other treatment. Find the details on our membership plans and financial information pages.
Catch It While It's Small
When a tooth does start to bother you, you'll have a dentist who knows your history, and the fix is more likely to be small because it was caught early. You can book online or call the office, whichever is easier for you.
What Our Patients Say
Frequently Asked Questions
Without insurance, our Adult Prophy Plan costs $576 a year and covers two exams, two cleanings, routine x-rays and fluoride, which works out to $48 a month. It also takes 15% off any other treatment you need. Children can join the Child Prophy Plan for $449 a year. If you would rather pay per visit, call our office to ask about single-visit fees.
Plan on about 90 minutes. Your dentist uses that time to go over your health history and examine your whole mouth, including an oral cancer screening. Before you leave, you'll get a copy of your treatment plan, and there's time to ask about anything on it, cost included. Completing your patient forms online beforehand keeps check-in short.
Yes. Nitrous oxide and IV sedation are both available for exams and cleanings, not only for bigger procedures. Nitrous oxide wears off almost immediately after your visit. IV sedation leaves most people with very little memory of the appointment, so you'll need a companion to take you home afterward. We'll help you choose the level that fits your health and how anxious you feel.
Yes. We work with many dental insurance plans and file your claims for you. Our team will help you understand what portion of your treatment your plan is expected to cover before anything starts. If you have no insurance, or your plan leaves gaps, our in-house membership plans cover routine care for a flat yearly fee, and CareCredit financing lets you spread larger costs over time.
Yes. We use biocompatible, tooth-colored resin that contains no mercury or other metals. Each filling is matched to the shade of your natural teeth, so it's hard to spot once it's polished. The area is numbed first, so most people feel pressure rather than pain. With daily brushing and flossing, a resin filling can last many years.
Often, yes. If the tooth needs a crown, we can usually make and place it the same day using CEREC technology, so you skip the temporary crown and the second numbing shot. A digital Primescan camera replaces messy impressions, and your ceramic crown is milled right here in our office, then shaded to match your other teeth.
Yes. Children can come in for routine cleanings and exams. The Child Prophy Plan covers two cleanings and two exams a year, plus routine x-rays and fluoride, for $449, and each additional family member joins for $399 a year. It also takes 15% off any other treatment your child needs. Call our office to set up your child's first visit.
